Sitting your restricted driving test is one of the most nervewracking experiences this planet has to offer and one girl from the UK didn’t do herself any favours by forgetting to turn her engine on.
Ziona is her name and Ziona made the crucial error of deciding to sit the practice test with a driving instructor who posts their lessons and tests online, ‘DGN Driving School’.
In the clip you can see how nervous she is and before you watch it I must warn you that the second-hand embarrassment is strong.
Having failed my restricted test seven times before passing (shame me, I don’t care) I would like to thank the powers that be for none of those fails being recorded and posted online for the world to enjoy.
As if it wasn’t already bad enough for Ziona, DGN posted her whole practice test to their YouTube channel and got over 75,000 views. She actually forgets to start her engine TWICE during the test - the second time being the viral moment.
The first time is at the very start of the test. She’s on a slope so the car actually moves and she’s out there being judged on her driving while not even starting the car.
To be fair to our learner queen, she’s in a car she’s never driven before with a stranger sitting in the passenger seat AND a camera pointed in her face. All that would just heap on more nerves to anyone sitting a test, which are already anxiety-inducing enough even if it is just a practice test.
I wish all the best to Ziona as she sets out to get her license and the freedom that comes with it. I’m going to bet that she will never forget to turn her engine on again (and that she probably won’t show her face in public for a while.)
