The viral biscoff hot cross buns have hit NZ supermarkets so that's me for the month of March

NEED!

I’d devour a pack of any hot cross bun, but these ones going viral on TikTok might just become my whole diet.

Just when you thought HCBs couldn't get any better, someone's had the bright idea to pump them full of bloody Biscoff, and I'm here for it. They're already sold out online (for now) but are available in four-packs at Woolworths/Countdown if you can bust out your Easter egg hunting skills early.

Tiktoker @bynessa sent the buns viral on TikTok, with her video of the oozy Biscoff dream attracting over two million views and hundreds of thousands of likes.

Commenters are saying they NEED the buns right now, but a few biscoff haters are letting their opinions be known.

“I need these in my life,” one person wrote.

“OMG I'M GONNA GET THIS FIRST THING IN THE MORNING,” said another.

“They're vegan friendly too which is AMAZING,” a third added. “I'll be eating these every day.”

“BISCOFF IS NOT THAT GOOD,” one more claimed. “STOP MAKING EVERYTHING BISCOFF.”

Some lucky pups who have already tried them reckon that the biscoff ratio differs from bun to bun within each pack, but IMO this could easily just be an excuse to cop heaps of them so you're sorted either way.

Of course, as others pointed out, you can also just buy biscoff spread and lather it on your own hot cross buns, which will be exactly what I’m doing if the pre-filled ones stay sold out.

The start of this year has been an absolutely beautiful time for Kiwi food. Just last week alone, Squiggles introduced a pineapple-lump-flavoured cookie, Maccas started selling Happy Meals for adults, and Tip Top brought back the Grapefruit & Lemon Fruju.

So yeah, my self-control has well and truly been tested and we’re not even two full months into 2024.
