This Belgian TikToker has done what we've all lowkey been interested in doing by faking his own death just to hop in a helicopter and gatecrash his own funeral.
David Baertan, 45 years old, is the machiavellian mad lad that went viral for his ‘prank’. David was disheartened with his family dynamic, feeling they were becoming fragmented and drifting apart.
So, he got his wife and children involved in a scheme that he thought would bring the family love back - him dying. His daughters posted casual obituaries to their social media accounts while the mum organised the funeral.
With everything set in motion and the family mourning over him, David descends from the sky to greet his family. TikTok footage shows a helicopter landing in a field right next to the funeral, which David emerges from as stunned family members rushed over.
As mentioned before, David did it because he was feeling unloved by those that should be closest to him.
“What I see in my family often hurts me,” he told The Times UK. “I never get invited to anything.”
“Nobody sees me. We all grew apart. I felt unappreciated. That’s why I wanted to give them a lesson and show them you shouldn’t wait until someone is dead to meet up with them.”
“Only half of my family came to the funeral. That proves who really cares about me,” he continued. “Those who didn’t come did contact me to meet up. So in a way, I did win.”
What we have here is a man willing to go to drastic lengths not only to prove a point but also to make a change in this cold world. Commendable even if it is excessive.
I just hope this doesn’t start a trend of people gauging their friends' and families’ love for them by faking their own death and crashing the funeral.
