Two Kiwi women teamed up to create an iconic moment at Afterpay Australian Fashion Week when models walked for NZ designer Maggie Marilyn's show wearing zero make-up.
Instead, the bare-faced beauties hit the runway with only Kiwi skincare brand Emma Lewisham products on their skin, and they were serving ray-di-ance, hunny.
You may have heard of Emma Lewisham's cult fave Skin Reset Serum, or you might have noticed the gorg pink and purple packaging has popped up in your local Mecca store lately.
If you don't know of it at all, you're gonna want to.
The brand's natural skincare and pioneering formulas have garnered huge international respect and a loyal following in the beauty scene - which is a bit bloody cool to see from a Kiwi female-founded company.
The focus on amplifying natural skin rather than covering it with makeup made sense for Maggie Marilyn's show 'The Best of It', which is dripping in summery vibes.
"I think for most of us, summer is when our skin is at its happiest and you can get away with skipping foundation for a more natural look," Maggie Marilyn designer and founder Maggie Hewitt, also a Kiwi, said.
"I wanted our show to have a similar ethos when it came to the beauty brief. Because Emma Lewisham skincare was used in place of traditional makeup, we made sure the artists spent a lot of time properly prepping the model’s skin and really massaging the products in, so that they looked healthy and radiant."
Maggie also said the science behind Emma Lewisham's products meant they had they the effect of makeup when it comes to evening out skin tone and texture. That's surely the stuff skincare dreams are made of?
Anywho - let's be real. We don't all have the bone structure and blessed genetics of these high fashion runway models. I for one am not quite at the point of throwing out my foundation, but I'm still super stoked to see an initiative like this play out in a fashion week environment where so much focus is on traditional beauty standards.
The fact that two New Zealand gals are behind it all is just…chef's kiss.
