FFS, today is the day Netflix bans sharing across multiple households in New Zealand

It's officially time to end your leeching ways.

We’ve given you the warning bells that  Netflix is actually not letting people share accounts, but today is officially the end of your leeching ways.

The streaming service is making it so accounts can only be shared within one household, with devices that aren’t in that household potentially being blocked from watching Netflix - who hurt you Netflix?

Netflix announced in a Facebook post earlier this morning announced that it’s making its way to New Zealand and I’m freaking out.

In a statement, the streaming platform revealed: “Starting today in Canada, New Zealand, Portugal and Spain. Our focus has been on giving  members greater control over who can access their account.”

Netflix’s Help Centre’s FAQs in the countries listed above have been updated with the new rules.

So, if your mum is shouting your Netflix account, it’s bad news for you my friend… You’re gonna need to cough up some cash.

A Kiwi on Reddit called u/bullchicken posted a warning screen that his mum has got and it's so much crazier actually seeing it.

It’s all based on the type of account the household owner pays for.

Netflix states, “members on our Standard or Premium plan can add an extra member sub-account for up to two people they don’t live with — each with a profile, personalized recommendations, login and password.”

It’ll cost ya NZD$7.99 a month, but that’s a heck of a lot cheaper than getting your own account, right?

If you do decide to move on from your leeching ways, don’t stress about losing all of the progress you’ve made during your binge-watching sessions.

The streaming giant has eased our minds by revealing that “people using an account can now easily transfer a profile to a new account, which they pay for”.

This will keep all of your personalized recommendations, viewing history, and the list of shows you're keen on watching next.

Phew! I’m already in too deep watching season 2 of Ginny & Georgia.
