James Corden has set the record straight on those rumours about One Direction potentially reuniting on his last-ever episode of the ‘Late Late Show’.
The Late Late Show’s official Twitter account posted a screenshot of a news story reporting on the rumours, but much to my saddened fan girl heart have denied the possibility of the boys getting together on the show.
“Nobody loves the boys more than us … but this story just isn’t true.”
The caption continued: "What is true is we’ve got an absolutely brilliant 2-hour finale planned to celebrate 8 years of #LateLateShow at 10pm on April 27th."
In case you’ve been living under a rock, it’s been reported that all five of the boy band members were speculated to make an appearance during Corden’s final episode of the show on April 27.
Many fans took to TikTok with what they believed to be evidence that this would be happening, including the fact that all of the boys were free during the time the show is set to be filmed.
The fans were convinced that because James has a close connection to all five members they would go to the effort to support him during his final taping of the show.
Liam Payne has also recently made comments on James Cordon’s final show and Louis Tomlinson has just cancelled the Asia leg of his tour which was set to take place at the same time as the filming.
Those same fans were crushed to find out that their sleuthing may have been for nothing, with one Twitter user writing: “How dare anyone get my hopes up.”
Another fan wrote: “a One Direction reunion is what I need right now.”
“I’m living in the One Direction reunion delusion forever idgaf,” wrote a third and I can’t help but relate to that with all my being.
It’s been a solid seven years since we’ve heard from One Direction as a group, and you can’t blame the stans for holding on to hope that one day they may get back together.
Although James may have denied the possible reunion on his show, we are still convinced something between Harry Styles and Niall Horan may be on the cards.
Fans have been picking up on clues that the pair could’ve been teasing a song together underneath our very noses.
