Married at First Sight Australia Bride Caitlin McConville is being described as a “fkn legend” after she stood up for herself against her hubby Shannon Adams‘ “disrespectful” and “emotionally abusive” behaviour.
It’s intimacy week, and During Tuesday’s episode, the newlyweds participated in the eye-gazing challenge. However, the intimate moment turned dark after Shannon brutally told Caitlin that she “isn’t good-looking in his eyes”.
Shannon went on to explain that he wasn’t blown away by Caitlin’s looks when he saw her walk down the aisle and says that contributed to last week’s major bombshell, where he confessed he is still in love with his ex.
Poor Caitlin broke down in tears and was shaking during a confessional that was hard to watch.
After pulling herself together, Caitlin built up the courage to confront Shannon about his terrible behaviour, and we’re so glad she did because the gal absolutely popped off.
Stepping into her power, Caitlin explained: “I feel mad. I’m mad at myself for letting him do this to me when I promised myself I would never let a man treat me like this again.”
Caitlin began her confrontation: “This is me letting you know how I feel. This is me defending myself because I deserve to be defended. I deserve to love myself and I deserve to sit here and say I am beautiful whether you think so or not.”
“You don’t need to love me, you don’t even need to like me, but you do need to respect me.”
She finished by telling Shannon: “It is a privilege to be in this experiment with me
Married at First Sight fans praised Caitlin for recognising and openly speaking about her self-worth.
Fans immediately took to Twitter to support Caitlin for her self-empowerment.
