Sydney Sweeney, who broke out playing Cassie Howard on the hit show ‘Euphoria’, has spoken out about her income from acting in Hollywood these days - and how it's... not enough??
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Sweeney said that pay for actors in Hollywood has fallen off from what it used to be, and she’s not able to take an extended time off because of it.
"If I wanted to take a six-month break, I don’t have income to cover that."
“I don’t have anyone I can turn to, to pay my bills or call for help,” she continued.
Same girl, same.
“They don’t pay actors like they used to, and with streamers [Netflix, for example] you no longer get residuals.”
“The established stars still get paid, but I have to give five percent to my lawyer, ten percent to my agents, three percent or something like that to my business manager. I have to pay my publicist every month, and that’s more than my mortgage.”
It does sound a bit like Sweeney is complaining from a high horse, but Hollywood Reporter also talked of how intense her schedule is, and the fact that she often has to pay for things like “styling, tailoring, hair and makeup, [and] travel” out of her own pocket.
The 24-year-old has starred in over 25 movies and 20 TV shows in her young career, but she shot to fame from the crazily amazing show that is Euphoria.
Reportedly, she was paid US$350,000 (around NZ$550,000) per episode for season two of the show, and US$25,000 (just under NZ$40,000) for each episode of the first season, which ends up at around US$3 Million (NZ$4.7 Million) for the show in total - which would be very nice right about now.
We’re sure Sydney has a long career ahead of her - and she’ll get those six months off eventually.
She was recently nominated for two Emmys and shared an adorable video of her calling her Mum when she found out.
