Guys, we're not sure if you realise this, because we didn't either until right now - NZ has it's own swim-up hot pool bar! What. A. Dream.
A few years ago, the owners of Lake Taupo Holiday Resort wanted to make their accomm a destination in itself. Their original idea was to build a waterpark, but they worried it would be too cold in winter so they decided on a huge hot pool - complete with NZ's first swim-up cafe and bar!
The pool is thermally heated to 35 degrees year-round, so you don't need to worry about getting chilly! You can get pizzas, drinks and heaps more without even leaving the pool.
There's a large screen that plays movies every night, and sporting matches whenever they're on. And there's even a giant hot pool cave with artificial glow worms and wetas (made by Weta Workshop themselves).
And if that wasn't enough, the holiday resort also has pedal go-karts, a giant jumping pillow, an adventure playground and a games room.
How cool does this place look?! Would be a great base for a trip down to Mt Ruapehu for a ski weekend. And prices are super afforable too. We think we'll be booking a trip ASAP.
