When is the supermoon happening?
If you are looking for something extra special tonight, all you have to do is look up!
Tonight, July 13, the moon is within 90 per cent of perigee - which simply means a moon’s closest proximity to Earth, according to NASA.
However, unlike other lunar events, there is no need to set your alarm, because the whole phase of the moon will be visible for up to three days.
If you do decide to stay inside though, don't worry! Chances are your Insta will be full of blurry photos of this beautiful moon.
What's so special about it?
This is expected to be 2022’s largest supermoon.
Because the moon is closer to Earth than most other full moons, it looks bigger and more vibrant to anyone looking at it from Earth.
Why is it called a 'Buck Moon'?
The Old Farmer's Almanac explains that "the full Moon in July is called the 'Buck Moon' because the antlers of male deer (bucks) are in full-growth mode at this time".
"Bucks shed and regrow their antlers each year, producing a larger and more impressive set as the years go by."
What does it mean for me?
If you are in touch with your spiritual side, you should know that the Buck Super Moon is occurring in the Earth sign of Capricorn, opposite the Sun and Mercury in Cancer, so Caps should expect things to be a bit more heightened this month.
