'Pray for him': Fans are devastated about Justin Bieber's facial paralysis

The singer revealed he can no longer move one side of his face in a worrying Instagram video.

Justin Bieber has revealed in an Instagram video that he is suffering from facial paralysis after a rare diagnosis of Ramsay Hunt Syndrome.

According to Mayo Clinic, Ramsay Hunt syndrome occurs when a shingles outbreak affects the facial nerve near one of your ears.

Bieber explained in his 3-minute-long IG video, "It is from this virus that attacks the nerve in my ear and my facial nerves and has caused my face to have paralysis."

Indicating the right side of his face, he continued, "As you can see, this eye is not blinking. I can't smile on this side of my face... So there's full paralysis on this side of my face." Bieber continued.

He asked his fans to be patient and said that he is "physically, obviously, not capable of doing” his tour for the time being as he has had to cancel multiple shows due to his diagnosis.

"I hope you guys understand. I'll be using this time to just rest and relax and get back to a hundred percent so that I can do what I was born to do," he added.

The Mayo Clinic says that for most people, the symptoms of Ramsay Hunt syndrome are temporary, but can become permanent.

Symptoms include:

  • Ear pain

  • Hearing loss

  • Ringing in your ears (tinnitus)

  • Difficulty closing one eye

  • Dry mouth and eyes

And, of course, facial paralysis.

Bieber then explained that he has been doing facial exercises to "get back to normal." But he doesn’t know how long it will take to recover.

Fans have rushed in with support for the singer, sharing their hopes and well wishes for his recovery.

It’s been a very scary start to 2022 for the Biebers, as Justin’s wife Hailey previously revealed that she had been hospitalised, due to a blood clot in her brain.

We wish them both all the love and good health!
