Kiwi country legend Kaylee Bell has teamed up with the incredible NAVVY for an absolute tune!
Their track ‘Life Is Tough (But So Am I)’ is said to be all about resiliency and empowerment for people to realise we really can do anything we put our minds to.
“Kaylee messaged me and said, ‘We need a song that’s empowering and exciting for women and people in general to do things,” NAVVY explained to Edge Afternoons’ Sharyn and Steph. “We’re so capable.”
“I was thinking about how life is tough, but tough is also a word you can also use to describe yourself,” she added.
And from there, BOOM, ‘Life Is Tough (But So Am I)’ was created!

Kaylee revealed the two met at the start of last year while NAVVY was opening for UK artist Maisie Peters’ NZ tour.
“I was like this chick is just the coolest ever,” Kaylee recalled on their first coffee catch-up.
While the distance between Kaylee in Nashville and NAVVY in London should have been a barrier to a songwriting collab, it proved that this duo was meant to join musically.
“It all kind of fell together way too easy,” Kaylee said on the writing process.
And the rest is history.
Since then the Kiwi female power duo have been side by side with Kaylee having NAVVY supporting her ‘Night’s Like This’ tour around the country next month.
