Yes, there’s a ‘Barbenheimer’ movie being made and no, it’s not a battle of the sequels

A legit crossover is on the way!

Just when you thought the hype around 'Barbie' and 'Oppenheimer' had officially died down, one B-movie director is bringing it all back with a legit 'Barbenheimer' crossover.

Unless you've been living under a rock, you'll remember that Greta Gerwig's 'Barbie' and Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer' both released on the 21st of July and fans went wild with the 'Barbenheimer' hype - it became a trend to watch the films back to back.

Now, Charles Band, a B-movie legend known for his horror-comedy films 'Evil Bong' and 'Puppet Master', is creating a new flick merging the two plots.

Charles shared the plot line with The Hollywood Reporter, saying: "A scientist doll called Dr. Bambi J Barbenheimer, living in the doll town Dolltopia, is bothered by how humans treat the dolls. So she goes on a mission to explode the real world with a giant nuclear bomb."

The filmmaker isn't just trying to cash in on the Barbie-Oppenheimer buzz, though. He's all about mixing the bright bubbly Barbie with the dark and moody Oppenheimer vibes to create a cocktail of dark humour.

As Band himself puts it, "It seems like every other feature is dark and depressing, and it's like God, we need a little humour going into 2024."

Fans of the two films are torn over the crossover with one writing: "Ok ok, it was funny as a joke but this is ridiculous..."

"I get it was a meme, but no one genuinely asked for this," another wrote to X (formerly known as Twitter).

While others love the merge of two of the most successful flicks of 2023.

"Let’s go! I’m here for it 🙌," One excited fan wrote.

Another added: "Can't wait, this will be great ❤️😻😍🥰"

As a fan of both movies who definitely played into the hype, I genuinely have no idea how tf Charle's is going to pull this one off, but I'll defs be there handing my cash over for a ticket.

The 'Barbenheimer' crossover is currently set to release in 2024 and you can bet your bottom dollar that it'll be a blast, pun very much intended.
