Spain's FIFA team ditched Palmy North 'due to boredom' so here's 5 things they missed out on

P Norty has never been offended more!

The Spain women's FIFA World Cup team, aka 'La Roja', have decided to relocate from Palmerston North to Wellington just before their crucial match against Japan tonight. The reason behind this move? Absolute boredom!

The team and their families, including players' children, had made the pre-tournament agreement to stay together, which initially sounded like a fantastic idea. However, as time wore on, it seems they discovered that Palmy North might not offer as many after-hours activities as they had hoped for.

ESPN's correspondent, Sam Marsden, reported that the area's lack of entertainment options has taken a toll on the Spain squad.

But hey, let's not judge Palmerston North too harshly! There are plenty of enjoyable activities to undertake in this lovely region, as long as you have the right insider tips to guide you.

First up, visiting the New Zealand Rugby Museum should be on every sports lover's itinerary.

The museum is chock-full of rugby memorabilia and offers interactive challenges, so you can experience the sporting action firsthand.

For a more relaxed outing, consider strolling or cycling along the Manawatu River Pathway

This ‘Gram-worthy path shows off the stunning views of the region. If you're not up for the full distance, don't worry! There are several points to take a break along the way, and you might even catch a glimpse of the He Ara Kotahi Bridge lit up in the evening.

Then there’s always the Te Manawa Museum of Art, Science, and Heritage, located in the city centre.

This museum is a treasure trove of exhibits showcasing local art, science, and heritage. And the best part? Admission is free! Plus, Te Manawa is family-friendly, with interactive experiences and play areas for the youngins.

Of course, no visit to Palmerston North would be complete without indulging in some delightful dining experiences along Broadway Avenue, or as the locals call it 'Eat Street.'

The variety of international cuisine available will surely tingle your taste buds.

Whether you're in the mood for Angus beef and fine wine, South African flame-grilled meats and seafood, Vietnamese banh mi baguettes, North Indian curries, or delectable Italian dishes and desserts, Broadway Avenue has got you covered.

Only a quick 20-minute drive from the city, you can enjoy day treks, overnight treks, or even horse-drawn wagon rides surrounded by breathtaking scenery.

So, while Spain's women's football team may have felt the need to relocate due to boredom, there's no reason for you to feel the same way during your stay in Palmerston North.
