From Winetopia to Dining in the Dark: Here's 5 gorgini things to do at Elemental AKL festival

Jamming to abit of Soaked Oats & Muroki... I'm there!!

Aucklanders, do yourself a favour and get amongst at least one of the epic-sounding activities going on at this year’s Elemental AKL festival. 

Starting on the 20th of July, the city will be taken over with loads of fab and fun activities. We’re talking tasty feeds, musical mayhem, and immersive artsy experiences if you're a boujee bish. 

We're chucking five recommendations your way, so there should be at least one event you'd enjoy!

Takapuna Winter Lights
Thursday 27  – Sunday 30 July

Take ya friends and fam to Takapuna and enjoy beautiful, illuminated installations along Hurstmere Road and Hurstmere Green. With live music and performances accompanying the dazzling lights, it will be a full sensory experience for all.

Fort Lane Live
Saturday 22 July

Head to this legendary laneway for their first-ever boutique block party. Fort Lane will come alive with immersive art, food trucks from top spots, and tunes from the likes of Young Franco, Soaked Oats, Muroki and more. Everybody’s, Roxy, Inward Goods and Snickel Lane will also be getting in on the action, for an unmissable night.

Kai by Kayak
Saturday 22 July – Saturday 5 August

Paddle from St Helier’s Beach to the beautiful Motukorea AKA Brown’s Island for a one-of-a-kind experience. Climb to the top of the island and hear about its history before having a cute lil picnic on the beach. Then, paddle back across the beautiful Waitematā as the sun sets. Stunning!

Winetopia
Friday 21 – Saturday 22 July

Winetopia is a wine and food lover's dream, with more than 50 wineries, and over 30 talks, tastings and masterclasses over two days. The Auckland event at the Viaduct Events Centre features Colin Fassnidge, expert Restaurateur and My Kitchen Rules judge, along with an exclusive sommelier session to teach you how to pair wine and food thanks to Gaggenau. Say less.

Dans le Noir? Dining in the Dark
Wednesday 2 August

Head to the Grand Millenium to explore your senses beyond sight. You’ll be served a Japanese- inspired three-course menu with a twist – you’ll be eating it in the pitch black. Don’t worry – a team of visually impaired guides will lead you through the experience, complete with an ambient environment created by artists to create a full sensory experience.

Of course, there are load more arts, eats, and beats happening throughout the Elemental AKL festival.  From 20 July – 6 August 2023, feste-goers can experience art, food, music, and activities in an ever-growing programme of free and ticketed events across Auckland.
