Want a movie to stream this weekend? Here's three goodies you might not have seen

Grab some extra buttery popcorn for these ones.

Weekends are a precious time, and there's hardly a better feeling than curling up on your bed, couch, or depending on how big the night before was, even the floor (we've all been there) to watch a movie.

What can change the mood from blissful laziness to frustration and hopelessness, though, is the process of choosing what to watch - so allow me to help with that bit.

Whether you're on Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney Plus or just wanna take advantage of the freebies on TVNZ On Demand - I've chosen three flicks from the last three years that I bloody loved.

Sit back, relax and enjoy avoiding an argument with your flatties about what to chuck on.

The Peanut Butter Falcon (Adventure/Drama/Comedy) (2019)

If you want to get hit right in the feels, grab a bowl of popcorn and buckle up for this one. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and be left with a heart so full you won’t know yourself.

'The Peanut Butter Falcon' follows Zak, a boy with Down syndrome, in a pursuit of his dream to become a pro wrestler. He is accompanied by an outlaw, Tyler, who becomes both his coach and ally.

To get you excited, Tyler is played by Shia Labeouf. With an element of romance along the way, Dakota Johnson is also cast in which the two spark a very fortunate relationship.

It really is just a super cute, wholesome watch so if that's what you’re after, look no further.

If you're still linked to your shared Netflix account, you can find it there. Or even better, TVNZ On Demand has it for free.

Palm Springs (Romance/Sci Fi /Fantasy) (2020)

This one is for my romance lovers, but with a heavy Sci-Fi influence, 'Palm Springs' is not your typical lovey dovey film.

When I say Sci-Fi, please don’t jump to the conclusion that it’s going to be too far away from reality. It has the perfect level of realness with a Sci-Fi plot to keep you entertained throughout.

Sadly, I cannot actually get too much into detail about this movie. There is a huge plot twist that happens within the first 10 minutes, which then dictates the whole storyline.

Andy Sandburg from Brooklyn Nine Nine is in it though, which automatically guarantees a few giggles here and there. Cristin Milioti also stars and takes the movie to another level with her determined nature and IDGAF attitude.

As I don’t want to spoil the surprise of the movie with the plot, you’ll just have to trust me on this one.

Prime Video users, you lucky things, this ones available for you.

Watch the trailer here, lowkey don’t though as it’ll spoil the plot.

Free Guy (Action/Sci-fi) (2021)

This one pleasantly surprised me, and I think it could do the same to you. I was slightly hesitant when I heard the plotline - a bank teller as a non-player character (NPC) in a video game - and if you are too, don’t be!

After learning that his life is basically one big fat lie, the NCP takes matters into his own hands to become the hero of the movie. With a bit of action, comedy and romance, this movie covers all bases. It also has really good special effects if you're after something to really entertain the eye.

Did I mention that Ryan Reynolds is the main character?

If that doesn’t influence your choice, not to worry. I reckon you'll still enjoy it.

Calling all Disney Plus users, this ones available for you guys.
