Lizzo teasing Kanoa Lloyd for her pronunciation of 'special' will make you proud to be Kiwi

she reckons she "love, LOVES, New Zealand" sooo brb gotta go be patriotic

Lizzo had such an amazing reaction to Kanoa Lloyd pronouncing ‘Special’ that everyone with a Kiwi accent should be buzzing about it.

After a brief chat, Kanoa says Lizzo returning to Aotearoa for 'THE SPECIAL' Tour is amazing.

“I’ll tell you what really improved my mental health was hearing that you are coming back to New Zealand with your ‘Special’ tour! I was like ‘ahhh we’ve all gotta get tickets!’,” Kanoa told Lizzo.

“Oh my God,” Lizzo replied. “‘Spea-shul’ is the best pronunciation of my album I’ve ever heard.”

The ‘About Damn Time’ hitmaker also said that she adores our country, and is definitely going to visit one of our most well-known tourist attractions when she’s here.

“Maybe I’m saying too much but I don’t know where I’m going to be like even tomorrow, she said. “So when I found out about the tour I was like oh cool. I am really really excited.”

“I love LOVE New Zealand. Last time I was there I was just sooo happy… and I’m going to Hobbiton this time God damn it. I can’t wait to be back.”

After remembering that Kanoa had gifted her a cheese roll during her last interview, Lizzo was asked what brings her joy at the moment, as her music brings many people joy. Her response was so awesome to hear, especially when she’s opened up about her struggles with anxiety and depression in the past.

“I would say that my mental health is in a really good place,” she said. “I’m really proud of myself.”

“The steps that I’ve been making to reduce my anxiety and enjoy the present in my life has been leaps and bounds. Ten years ago Lizzo would be really proud - even f***ing five years ago Lizzo would be really proud of how far I’ve come. I think that brings me a lot of joy right now.”

Lizzo is coming to NZ for one show only at Auckland’s Spark Arena on Wednesday, July 26th. Tickets are available from 11 am tomorrow (29th of March) - get them here, thanks to us at The Edge.
