Sleep is valuable to all of us, and there is nothing worse than the feeling of not being able to sleep. One doctor has come to the party to reveal the simple yet effective way to fall asleep.

Dr Jeff Foster has revealed that an orgasm can have a 'sedating effect on our bodies, which is exactly what you need when you're battling to fall asleep.

Foster has revealed this in a recent interview with Glamour Magazine saying:

Masturbation is the same as sexual intercourse, and therefore, the differentiation between the two is only significant in terms of the fact that other people may or may not be involved in the process.

"From a sleep perspective, your brain does not care if you had sex with someone or by yourself."

When he explains the science behind this, it makes a lot of sense to us,

"Sexual activity, usually that which results in orgasm, causes a release of multiple hormones, including dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin, and prolactin."

He explains that these are the chemicals in our bodies that can help relax you as well as improve your mood and clarity.

This is also deliberate, and is designed to allow our bodies to recover from the recent physical exertion of sexual activity or masturbation.
