Did you know Dan auditioned for X-Factor NZ? Neither, but here's the footage

Dan's got pipes!!

Get ready to roll on the floor laughing because we've got some never-seen-before footage of The Edge Breakfast’s Dan Webby auditioning for X-Factor NZ back in 2015.

And let me tell you, it's a performance you won't want to miss!

Dan shared the throwback clip to Instagram with the caption: “In 2015 I auditioned for X Factor… The footage has never seen the light of day (probably for the best)…. UNTIL NOW!”

In the clip, Dan takes the stage with his buddy Jeremy to belt out John Farnham's iconic anthem, ‘You're the Voice.’

Now, I don't want to spoil the surprise, but let's just say Dan's vocal prowess might’ve impressed one judge in particular.

Remember Willy Moon? That's right, the same guy who infamously made headlines for his jaw-dropping behaviour as a judge. Well, guess what? He was the one who saw potential in Dan's vocals.

He suggested that Dan and Jeremy split up, with Dan pursuing a solo career... Not Dan trying to have his Zayn Malik moment, lol!

In the end, Dan and Jeremy managed to secure a spot at BootCamp, but it wasn't the glorious beginning of a singing sensation that they had hoped for. I guess the world just wasn't ready for their talent quite yet.

It’s okay though, because we took him under our wing, dusted him off, and finally gave him the chance to get behind a microphone again.

And boy, are we glad we did! Oh, Dan, if you're reading this, Casey the boss told me to tell you ‘you're welcome!’ ;)

If you thought that was Dan’s only embarrassing throwback clip, then you, my friend, are mistaken.

The team also got their hands on Dan’s first-ever radio voice break, and if you thought the X-Factor audition was worth a cringe, wait till you hear this!

Nah, on a serious note, we’re glad Dan can have a laugh with us and share these hilarious moments for our entertainment.

Now, brb I need to try and get ‘You’re The Voice’ out of my head!
