Amanda Bynes has filed a petition to end her 9-year long conservatorship.

The 35-year-old Nickelodeon actress entered a conservatorship under her parents Lynn and Rick Bynes in 2013 while she was facing substance abuse issues, controversial Twitter rants, and legal troubles.

The former child star was placed under a temporary psychiatric hold after reportedly starting a fire in someone’s driveway, at which point a judge put her under a temporary conservatorship that has been extended multiple times over the years.

According to TMZ, her parents are in full support of ending her conservatorship, claiming she has made 'significant progress'  in coping with bipolar disorder.

This comes months are Britney Spears publically ended her messy 13-year long conservatorship after the 'Free Britney' movement.

Although Bynes' decision to end her conservatorship is not inspired by Britney's as according to her lawyer, David Esquibias, she reportedly had begun the process long before the rise of the #freebritney movement.

According to her lawyer, Amanda has a great, loving relationship with her parents and they've been on the same page during the conservatorship and remain that way about ending it.

"The professionals say she is ready to make her own life choices and decisions and are so proud of her. They 100 percent support her decision to end the conservatorship."

Bynes has reportedly gained important structure after attending AA for 3-4 years and she is now currently attending Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising as she works toward a Bachelor's degree.

Bynes is doing really well in classes, with almost straight A's, and is focused on using fashion as a creative outlet, and also wants to develop fragrances.

Since 2020, she has been living in what her attorney described as a "structured community for women" and last year she transitioned to an apartment community that offers independent living skills before the women live on their own.

Bynes’ conservatorship hearing is scheduled for March 22nd, 2022.

We're so pleased to hear she's made a recovery and is doing well 👏
