2022, being the absolute sh*t show of a year it was, took a lot of things away from us.
One of those being the Lizzie McGuire reboot.
The show was meant to air on Disney+ but after the beginning of the table reads and initial shoots, the shows progress seemed to go downhill.
Duff wanted to make the show for the original fans, and follow the life of what would now be a 30-year-old Lizzie but didn't have to adhere to a PG format on Disney+, ultimately leading to the cancellation.
"I'd be doing a disservice to everyone by limiting the realities of a 30-year-old's journey to live under the ceiling of a PG rating." said Duff at the time.
While we didn't get the reboot, the actress has let slip details of what we could have expected with the plot.
Speaking with Cosmo, Duff said "My character was moving back home with her parents because she caught her soon-to-be fiancé cheating on her."
"She was falling flat on her face at the moment and being like, “I need to pivot because everything that I thought was wasn’t, and I’m turning 30. What the f**k?”,".
And now, after getting this teaser, we want the reboot. even. more.
While Hulu didn't pick up the reboot when Duff wanted to move it away from Disney+, we can only hope. Which is also what Hilary Duff is doing.
"There’s a time and a place for everything. It just wasn’t her moment. I’m constantly asked about it still. All it does is breathe life into the fact that people still want it, and that’s really sweet. It’s not dead, and it’s not alive."
