Timothée Chalamet set to play Willy Wonka in prequel film

A Willy Wonka prequel is 100% in the works, with Timothée Chalamet set to star as Willy Wonka himself.

'Wonka', will take place during Wonka's younger days, focussing on "his adventures prior to opening the world's most famous chocolate factory", announced Warner Bros. and the Roald Dahl Story Co.

Rumours about a Willy Wonka prequel have been going round for years, with stars such as Ryan Gosling and Tom Holland previously in the running to star as the iconic role.

Oscar-nominated Timothée Chalamet has a musical and ballet background, so we reckon he'll be a great fit for all of the musical numbers that the prequel promises to entail.

Unfortunately, we've still got a while longer to wait for the film to come out. Warner Bros. set a release date earlier this year for March 2023.

Although we've still got a couple years to go, we couldn't be more excited to see what Wonka's life was like before his world of lickable wallpaper, chocolate rivers and Wonka bars!
