Youtube has demonetized James Charles channel due to sexting allegations

Youtuber James Charles has been demonetized due to allegations of sexual misconduct from over 15 men, some of them being minors. By demonetizing his channel, Youtube is restricting James Charles ability to make money from his content, Morphe has also chosen to end their relationship with him.

The allegations against James Charles range from sexting accusations with minors and manipulating the young men into reciprocating his sexual and romantic feelings. The accusations started in 2019 and have been coming out ever since. 

In his most recent video that was released on April 2nd Holding myself accountable he admitted that the interaction with two sixteen-year-olds never should have happened however he said that they lied about their ages.

James Charles most recent response to Morphe cutting ties with him was three days ago where he claims that the allegations that have been coming out are false and that his lawyers will be taking action.

Youtube says that they have applied their “creator responsibility” to the James Charles channel as it appears that James Charles off-platform behaviour could be harming the Youtube community.

“Remember that as YouTube creators, you should remain responsible both on and off the platform. If we see that a creator’s on- and/or off-platform behaviour harms our users, community, employees or ecosystem, we may take action to protect the community.”
