Humane Society International (HSI) created ‘Save Ralph’ a short film that shines a light on the cruelty of animal testing and it’s pretty disturbing. Taika Waititi brings his usual humour to the role which slowly unravels into a bit of a nightmare.
‘Save Ralph is a powerful stop-motion animation short film featuring Oscar winner Taika Waititi as the voice of Ralph, who is being interviewed for a documentary as he goes through his daily routine as a “tester” in a lab.’ The synopsis says.
Taika Waititi took to Instagram and said,
Please watch this film and let me know if you feel anything. If you don't feel anything you might be dead. No judgment though!
The scene opens up with Ralph insisting on how important his work is and dismissing his injuries like how he’s blind in one eye and deaf in one of his ears. Ralph insists that testing is what makes bunnies happy.
The short film not only stars Taika Waititi but also features Ricky Gervais and Zac Effron. The short film is less than four minutes long and is an incredibly powerful watch. Many of the commenters mentioned how emotional it’s made them feel and how they will be looking for the cruelty-free bunny on products from now on.
“HSI’s #SaveRalph campaign tackles the cruelty of animal testing in an original and unexpected way—using the story of one bunny to shine a light on the plight of countless rabbits and other animals in laboratories around the world.”
Congratulations to Taika Waititi and the HSI for creating an amazing campaign and film that makes people question their contribution to animal cruelty. You can watch the video below.
