Two months after his passing, KJ Apa has opened up about the impact Luke Perry had on his life.
While on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the kiwi star made his first public statement about the loss if his TV dad.
"It’s not every day you come across a guy like Luke." He shared.
"Like, Luke is the kind of person who did everything he can to make everyone, no matter how big or small you are, feel comfortable and feel welcome."
KJ went on to share the relationship Luke had with his parents, back here in New Zealand.
KJ said that every week Luke would reach out to his mum and dad to let them know what he was doing.
“We had a really close relationship. He would call my parents every week and, like, keep them updated on how I’m going.”
"Like if I had a cold or something, he'd be like 'I took some Gatorade to his apartment the other day'... He and my dad were always texting.
“He made such a huge effort from the very beginning and I was like, ‘I wish I could be like that.’"
