The Government plans to crack down on ticket scalping, the Prime Minister has announced.
"Many New Zealanders are being subject to ticketing scams and fraud," she told media assembled at her post-Cabinet news conference on Monday.
"Professional scalpers are using ticket bots to buy up large quantities of tickets online and then resell them at hugely inflated prices.
"Many people have already lost out both financially and on experiences by purchasing tickets for events through unscrupulous ticket sellers and re-sell websites."
The effects are devastating for consumers and artists, the Prime Minister said.
Kris Faafoi said these sites are "ripping off New Zealanders".
Mr Faafoi said the Government may consider price caps on ticket re-sale websites.
