Kmart has confirmed an online store for Kiwi shoppers is in the works, and will be launching in the near feature.
The giant retailer was not aware until now, but there was a MASSIVE online petition by a Christchurch woman on Change.org has gathered more than 3700 signatures so far, calling on the retailer to open an up online shopping for Kiwi consumers, many of whom are not near a store.
Kmart spokeswoman Natalie Rixon said she had not heard of the petition but there had been lots of customer queries on its Facebook page, "and it is in the works".
Kmart is expanding in New Zealand and, according to industry website Inside Retail NZ, it plans to open two or three new stores a year in New Zealand by 2020, giving it 30 stores here.
