The viral Reddit story 'My Mother-In-Law was poisoning me, then I found out why' has been confirmed by Sony to be adapted into a film.

The short story written by Nick Moorefox was posted to Reddit back in 2019, taking the internet by storm with an unexpected plot twist that made our jaw drop.

Essentially, the story centers around an unnamed character who is convinced her Mother-in-law Betsy is trying to poison her, as every time the couple visits her, the character ends up unwell.

"Betsy made lunch and I was changing to go out when it hit me, just waves of nausea. I wound up in the bathroom for hours that afternoon."

After switching her food with her husband's, she concludes her mother-in-law is indeed poisoning her.

"Craig and I both had two slices, so I just switched our plates while everyone was in the next room. Craig was so sick I was really worried about him."

Shortly after, she discovers the haunting reason why...

“As it turns out the worst thing wasn’t my mother-in-law poisoning me, the worst thing was why she did it.”

If you haven't yet, have a read through the story here, you're in for a wild ride.

What we know so far is that Sony’s 3000 Pictures have just picked up the film rights and the story will take the form of a psychological thriller.

The story will be adapted into a film and executively produced by New York Times Bestselling Author Jessica Knolls, who recently adapted her own novel 'Luckiest Girl Alive' into a Netflix film starring Mila Kunis.

Just reading through the tale from Moorefox is enough to get our self-confessed psychological thriller-loving ass excited and with a plot twist like that, this film is set to be a goodie.

While other details about the film are yet to be confirmed, we’ll be sure to update you as soon as we know more, so watch this space.
