If you’re excited to catch a glimpse of the Super Blood Moon and lunar eclipse tonight (May 26th) but you aren’t too sure about what’s going on… Here’s what to expect!
When is it happening?
On May 26, the Earth will pass between the sun and the moon, casting a shadow across the moon’s surface and making it appear a deep red color for 14 minutes and 30 seconds - So you better be quick. It’s total phase will begin at 11:11 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) on May 26 and end at 11:25.
What is so special about it?
This is expected to be the first time in nearly 40 years that New Zealanders have witnessed a blood supermoon, which occurs when a total lunar eclipse occurs at the same time as a supermoon. This is the year's "most super" moon, according to Nasa. A blood supermoon is made up of three elements: a full moon, the Moon being at its closest point in its orbit to Earth, and a total lunar eclipse.
What does it mean for me?
If you are one that is in tune with their spiritual side then you should know that the lunar eclipse is occurring in the fire sign of Sagittarius and in opposition to the sun of Gemini. Sagittarius is a star sign that represents the need for truth, so this event will force us to be honest with ourselves and others. Because Sagittarius is a sign that "craves adventure, spontaneity" the super blood moon is expected to inspire people to embrace new experiences while also learning truths.
Although usually a full moon is the perfect time to recharge those crystals, the energy of a total lunar eclipse is usually ungrounded. This means that by charging crystals under tonight’s moon they will hold that ungrounded energy which may make you feel disconnected. We suggest waiting for the next full moon to charge up those bad boys!
