There’s a new trend on TikTok and it’s safe to say we’re really not sure how to feel about this one..
The trend, which is being named as ‘Sleepy Chicken’ has seen TikTok users cooking chicken in cold and flu liquid medicine such as NyQuil or Robotussin.
The viral video from the trend, with 4.3 million views, shows a man cooking the chicken in the medicine claiming it’s for his wife who is unwell.
Numerous videos from the trend show users cooking chicken in half a bottle of cold and flu medicine, with some boiling their meat in it and claiming it’s ready to eat after 5 minutes.
The viral trend has quickly been blasted by doctors and physicians jumping on board to warn people of the dangerous consequences of trying this trend. Doctors are warning the public that this is a recipe for disaster and almost guarantee you can contract food poisoning.
They also say if you genuinely are unwell with a cold or flu, consuming half a bottle of medicine is certainly not going to help you feel any better.
Dr Aaron Hartman, physician and assistant clinical professor, told MIC.com "If you ate one of those cutlets completely cooked, it'd be as if you're actually consuming a quarter to half a bottle of NyQuil".
Now, we’re not claiming to have any cooking skills, but we think we can advise you to steer clear of this cooking method.
