The trial of the man accused of murdering British backpacker Grace Millane in December 2018 begins today.
At the time Meg made a very thought provoking and emotional speech on the show, aimed at online comments that victim-blamed Millane for being a solo traveler:
Grace won't be going home and telling her stories... She won't be able to fulfil her dreams, fall in love, tick more things off her bucket list... She was unfairly, gut-wrenchingly taken away from us. And it wasn't her fault.
Almost a year on from her speech, Meg still feels extremely emotional about it. The speech reached the Millane family who responded to it in a heartfelt letter earlier this year:
Your speech was moving and very emotional. It meant a lot to us as a family that you spoke for Grace.
The case is currently in court. Our thoughts go out to the Millane family and we hope they recieve the justice that they want and deserve for their daughter.
