A TikTok trend has led to a bunch of teenagers getting suited up to watch ‘Minions: The Rise of Gru’, but their antics have made some people mad.
They call themselves ‘gentleminions’ and they arrive in hordes to the cinemas to watch the film.
While it does seem like a bit of lighthearted fun, some of the ‘gentleminions’ behaviour may have gone a bit too far, leading to ‘formal attire’ being banned from some cinemas, and others have had to stop showing the film altogether.
A UK cinema manager, Daniel Phillips-Smith, talked to the BBC about the actions of some of the suited-up minion fans.
Apparently, they abused staff, were throwing bananas, and swearing around other customers.
One cinema had to stop screening the flick as lots of families were complaining and getting refunds because of the utter chaos the ‘gentleminions’ were causing.
"Families leaving before the film has even started and of course, the children have been in tears,” he continued.
It does seem that it’s a classic case of a few bad apples spoiling the bunch, as BBC reported there have been cases of chivalrous ‘gentleminions’ - including one where they “politely stopped bowing down and worshipping a giant poster of Gru” so children could pose with it instead.
That’s more like it.
