The gripping new series recounts the controversial murder trial of Kathleen Peterson.

If you're a true crime lover, you'll remember 2018 Netflix doco-series 'The Staircase', which investigated the controversial murder case of Kathleen Peterson.

Well, if you became highly invested in the case like we did, get excited because HBO have just released a trailer for their upcoming series, retelling one of the wildest true crime stories.

If you're unfamilar with the case, Kathleen Peterson was found dead at the bottom of a staircase in 2001, though the questionable circumstances surrounding her death led to her husband Michael Peterson being put on trial for her murder.

The trailer sees Colin Firth play the role of husband Peterson - a famous crime novelist - as he goes through the trial.
