Selena Gomez launches online mental fitness platform after her bipolar disorder diagnosis

The platform 'Wondermind' is designed to destigmatize and democratize mental health.

Selena Gomez has launched a new mental fitness platform called 'Wondermind', which is aimed to destigmatize and democratize mental health.

The platform will provide both content and tools for mental fitness (for example, daily journal exercises), as well as a podcast, with the help of mental health experts.

This "homework," or daily practice of taking care of your mental health in small, but impactful ways, is what the founders are calling "mental fitness."

The actress who is currently filming season two of 'Only Murders in the Building' and running her successful cosmetic line 'Rare Beauty', said,

The 'Rare' singer launched the multimedia platform alongside her mother and executive producer of 13 reasons why Mandy Teefy, and Newsette co-founder Daniella Pierson.

"Our motto is you should see a therapist — we're not a replacement for a therapist, however, just like in physical fitness, if you're lucky enough to have a personal trainer, you can't just rely on that once a week and think you're going to get these crazy results," co-founder Pierson said.

"It's kind of the same with a therapist — any good therapist will tell you, you have to do the work in between."

The star publically spoke about her bipolar disorder diagnosis back in April 2020 on Miley Cyrus' Instagram Live talk show, “Bright Minded,”.

“After years of going through a lot of different things, I realized that I was bipolar and so when I go to know more information, it actually helps me,” the singer told Cyrus.

In an interview with Good Morning America, she revealed that she hasn't been on the internet in four and a half years, claiming “It has changed my life completely. I am happier, I am more present, and I connect more with people. It makes me feel normal.”

You can explore the platform and sign up to their email newsletter here.

HUGE respect to Selena for using her position to help others and speak up about such an important topic.
