A Duck Island chocolate bar is dropping in time for Easter and it’s a big yes from me

Somebody get the Easter Bunny on the phone… or at least just let your mum know.

Wellington Chocolate Factory is coming to the party ahead of Easter weekend by re-imagining a super popular Duck Island ice cream as a limited edition chocolate bar.

The new Ambrosia chocolate bar was created by the artisan chocolate makers at WCF, who took inspiration from Duck Island’s best-selling Ambrosia flavour, which has been on their menu for four years.

A staple at many a Kiwi BBQ, Ambrosia is a classic dessert that New Zealanders have been keen on for yonks. Fruit, cream, yoghurt, chocolate and marshies - what’s not to like?

Of course, WCF has bougied things up a bit for their bar, which features a mashup of dark Vanuatu chocolate with fluffy NZ-made vanilla and raspberry flavoured marshmallows and hints of cherry and yoghurt throughout.

The team at WCF said they made eight different versions of the chocolate bar - each taking three days to complete - before deciding on the final delicious combo.

Better still, the beans used for the Duck Island chocolate bar are sourced through a direct partnership with Vanuatu cocoa farmers, who receive an above-market price to ensure they’re paid fairly and their communities and families can thrive.

Apparently, those Vanuatu beans have notes of blackberry and burnt sugar in them, similar to creme brulee. Drooling yet?

The WCF x Duck Island Easter Bar is available for sale at Wellington Chocolate Factory and at Duck Island right now, so get your hop on, bunnies.
