Australia has just opened it's first fully licensed cheese train restaurant in Geelong, southwest from Melbourne, Victoria.
The restaurant, named 'Splatters cheese bar', is serving cheese plates between AUD $5-14 on 20m conveyor belt.
The cheese bar offers an assortment of Victorian wines and beers to create the ‘ultimate grazing experience’ alongside a minimum of fifteen artisan Australian cheeses.
Jo Bangles, the founder and owner, explained that the idea was inspired by sushi trains, telling Delicious “Basically, it’s a sushi train concept but with cheese”.
“We do an accompaniment with each cheese, we also do local charcuterie from Salt Kitchen, and local sourdough breads with infused butters, stuffed olives, bits and piece, all on the train as well." Bangles said. Now that sounds like a bit of us...
Bangles believes that the restaurant would provide the oppourtunity to educate locals about their local cheeses. She thinks customers will be surprised to find Australia is home to some of the most premium products.
