Ed Sheeran took a moment to remember his good mate Shane Warne while chatting with The Edge Breakfast show, sharing his precious final memory with the cricketing legend.
Ed said he and Shane, who tragically passed away in Thailand earlier this month, had spent "countless" nights together at the pop star’s house where they could "put away a lot of beers", but it was their favourite band that brought them together one last time.
"A few months ago I was singing with Coldplay and [Shane's] really good friends with Chris Martin and he hit me up and he was like, 'Chris said that you're playing tonight'," Ed said.
"He came round with some friends, we drank a couple of bottles of wine and a few beers, and we went to the gig and then I kind of said goodbye and went to go and play.
“I got backstage afterwards and I was like, 'this isn't going to be fun, watching backstage, I'm going to go and find Warney'," he continued.
"So I found Shane and we stood together for the entire show - Coldplay are like my favourite band, and his as well.
As Meg pointed out, that’s about as epic a final memory you could hope to have with a mate, and we have to agree with Nickson - 'Fix You' is definitely going to hit different now.
