Netflix just dropped its new doco looking into the conservatorship of Britney Spears, revealing some very shocking revelations.

Giving us a real insight into Britney’s fight for freedom from the conservatorship she’s lived under for the past 13 years.

Looking into some of the lesser-known events of her story.

Britney's Ex Paparazzi Boyfriend Spoke Out

Britney started dating paparazzi photographer Adnan Ghalib in late 2007.

He opened up about how he would stay up with Britney for days at a time, not wanting to leave her or fall asleep because “if anything happened to her, I’d get blamed.”

“What was apparent to me in her divorce from Kevin (Federline) was she didn’t have one person she could trust – not her mum, dad, sister anybody. That’s a very scary, dark place to be,” he said.

Britney's Darkest Night - Chased Away By Paparazzi

Back in January 2008 Britney locked herself in a room of her house, refusing to hand over her kids to their father Kevin Federline after the request of the court.

Dozens of paparazzi swarmed the ambulance that drove her away, chased it down and even held onto the doors to get a pic. How surreal.

The Reasoning Behind Putting Britney Under A Conservatorship

The doco featured court docs with the reason behind Britney’s conservatorship, that state the arrangement was due to: “Orders related to dementia placement.”

Apparently it was super unusual to have “dementia” listed for somebody in their 20s - especially for somebody who was still working as much as Britney was.

However "dementia" may have not been the case. Britney biographer Lorilee Craker opened up about the situation at the time:

“Something I don’t believe has been portrayed correctly is the level of crisis when the conservatorship began,” she said.

She claimed that Sam Lufti, who was her manager at the time, was “crushing drugs, putting them in her food and bragging about it,” – an allegation that he denies in the doco. “I was the perfect scapegoat to get this (conservatorship) done,” said Sam.

Britney's Secret Letter To Her Fans

Less than a year into the conservatorship, Britney wrote an open letter about her situation to her friend Andrew Gallery, with a request to make it public.

“This year Britney’s been silenced to speak about anything that’s really going on. The people controlling her life have made 3 million dollars this year. She’d love for new eyes to see her situation, but if she brings it up she’s constantly threatened that the conservators will take her kids away,” Britney wrote.

“So how long does this go on for? As long as the people are getting paid and she has no rights it could go on for a while, but it doesn’t make it right at all.”

“Britney’s given her brother a $2m apartment, her mother an estate in Louisiana and her father the best job in show business. She’s a very giving person and would love to get the respect she deserves.”

Andrew said “a huge fire alarm went off” within the conservatorship after they discovered the letter. After they found out, he stopped working or spending time with Britney. Sounds like they were trying their best to silence it getting out.

Judging 'The X Factor' Against Medical Advice

Documents from 2012 show the multimillion-dollar deal Britney made to be a judge on 'The X Factor'. The medical team assessing her for the conservatorship advised against it, but Britney’s management pushed back.

Most people might have thought Britney was back in control after seeing her back on TV. But behind the scenes she was given different doses of “stimulant” medication daily, depending on whether she was filming 'The X Factor' or not.

Britney got the last word on the doco - ending with her plea to the court from earlier this year, demanding the court to change her situation.
