Polydor Records have just signed former Little Mix member Jesy Nelson on a solo record deal, with a release expected for later this year.
“I’m so excited to finally announce that I will be signing to Polydor records, I cannot wait for you to hear what I’ve been working on and to start this new chapter with the Universal Music team.” Jesy shared with her fans.
Welcoming the new signing, Ben Mortimer, co-president of Polydor, praised Nelson’s artistic abilities.
“As soon as I met Jesy I knew Polydor had to become her label partner, She’s developed the sound for her next music beautifully. It’s true to her, and she has an authentic vision about what this next stage of her already incredible career should be. There’s a huge appetite for what music she comes with now, and a huge platform to launch it from. I’m proud she’s chosen Polydor to be her new home.”
The announcement comes five months after Nelson revealed her reasons behind leaving girl-band Little Mix, “I can’t believe how miserable I was.”
The singer stated in an interview that constant comparisons to her bandmates took a toll on her mental health, which prompted her decision to quit.
“I find the constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard,” She explained in her original statement that was released upon her departure.
Sources have claimed that Nelson is no longer in touch with her ex-bandmates, sharing that “She wants to sever ties and start again – that seems to be both professionally and personally.”
Another insider added that it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Jesy has thrown herself into music as she was ‘a bit of a leader’ in Little Mix.
We’re looking forward to seeing the direction that Jesy Nelson is going to go with her new solo career, with her first release expected later this year.
