Friends’ reunion special will feature original props, including the OG Warner Bros. Studio stage
After years of anticipation and speculation from fans of the franchise, the Friends reunion special has finally wrapped up filming, with new details emerging from the shoot.
The reunion special was filmed over a three-day period last week, with sources confirming that the famous water fountain from the original shows opening credits had been brought out for use again. The fountain is located on the Warner Bros. Ranch in Burbank, California.
Production designer Greg Grande shared this photo of the set:
The special has also been filmed on the exact stage at the Warner Bros. Studio lot that the original show was filmed in. There are also reports that a live audience participated in the reunion after being screened for COVID-19. We are SO jealous!
It has been confirmed that all of the main cast members – Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer have taken part.
Whilst little else is known about the contents of the reunion, it is not expected to be a narrative scripted programme, but rather a conversation with each of the stars about their experience on the show.
Perry sent out a photo from his makeup chair on set to his Instagram followers, captioning the post “Seconds before eating a makeup brush. Not to mention reuniting with my Friends.” Though it was promptly deleted.
Schwimmer also hinted during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show last week that the actors would still be getting into character at some point. Adding, “I’ll be David. Nothing is scripted and we are not in character. We are all ourselves although there is one section of it that I don’t want to give away, but we all read something.”
The special will air on HBO Max, and while there is no release date in place, sources have claimed that it will debut sometime within the next few months.
