If you're someone who puts up the Christmas tree in November, you're probably used to people rolling their eyes at you. But - according to science, people who put up their Christmas tree early can be happier!

Speaking to Today, Psychologist Deborah Serani has explained that putting up your Christmas tree and decorations can increase your dopamine and lift your mood.

She said,

It does create that neurological shift that can produce happiness... Christmas decorating will spike dopamine, a feel-good hormone.

Serani said the bright colours and lights can boost your energy levels and remind people of happy times. If you had happy childhood memories of Christmas a kid, you're more likely to want to re-create that feeling as soon as you can.

“For a lot of us, Christmas is a magical time, it’s a time of innocence, it’s a time of joy."

Furthermore, a study has shown that popping Christmas lights up outside can indicate to your neighbors that you're friendly and social. How good!
