The best animated show ever may be officially ending when it's coming 32nd season wraps up, after a huge 30 YEARS on TV.
Danny Elfman, who created The Simpsons' classic theme song and composed all of the music on the show, has said that he's heard this season will be the last.
"Well, from what I’ve heard, it is coming to an end. I don’t know for a fact, but I’ve head that it will be in its last year," Danny said.
Speaking about his part in the series, Danny also said that he's still amazed at the fact The Simpsons lasted as long as it did.
"All I can say is that I’m so flabbagasted and amazed that it has lasted as long as it did. You have to realise, when I scored The Simpsons, I wrote this crazy piece of music, and I expected no one would hear it, because I really did not think the show had a chance in hell," he said.
Created by Matt Groening back in 1989, The Simpsons is the longest-running American sitcome and the longest-running American scripted primetime television series in terms of both episodes and seasons.
Hearing that the show may be ending, Twitter fans were quick to express their shock and sadness:
We just can't imagine a world without The Simpsons tbh. We're really hoping this is some huge prank...
