Wedding meals are normally VERY expensive, most often in the form of a fancy three-course meal or a bougee buffet.
This couple decided to throw the flash food out the window and opted for good ol' Domino's pizza at their wedding instead.
"Most people know me and Tom just don’t do things traditionally," said 26-yearold Victoria.
"I didn’t want traditional sandwiches or anything at the wedding, I wanted something that stood out. We actually kept joking saying 'shall we have Domino’s?', but as it got closer and we didn’t have any food plans we started seriously considering it and I emailed Domino’s asking the question,"
The couple's local branch were happy to oblige, serving up a total of 30 large pizzas, 20 garlic breads, 20 boxes of chicken strips and 20 boxes of wedges. Tbh that doesn't even sound like that much...
The whole feast cost about $700 NZD, which is quite cheap in the scheme of wedding meals.
The couple hadn't let any of the guests know about the food plans, so on the big day the Domino's staff strolling in shocked the room:
"I was so paranoid about whether they were actually going to be able to do it that I went in the day before and said 'are you are all aware of my order for tomorrow?' They were pretty good. It all came in piping hot and the staff were quite happy to stand and have a photo with me. People are still gobsmacked with it, people think that as a buffet you have to have like sandwiches and stuff and I don’t really like pasties and I’m not picking them because everyone else likes them,"
In the end the pizza's went down a treat, with guests praising the bride throughout the day for the unique choice.
"I was surprised at the amount they delivered, I thought 'we’re going to have to take this home and have it for a couple of weeks'. We would have ended up having to bin it which would have been devastating for me. I would normally order it at least once a week and I definitely won’t be for a little bit. I don’t want to see anymore pizzas for a while,"
We are definitely not against anyone having this as their wedding meal, we'd love an invite please...
