A very guilty ex-student has sent an anonymous gift to their former university house in "reparation" and we can't help but laugh.
The typed note was delivered to Victoria University's Weir House on Thursday along with $50 in cash.
"I was a student at Weir House back in the late 1970s,"
"I had the occasion to meet with a fellow student last weekend, who was also in Weir House at the same time as me. He reminded me I did pinch some bread from the kitchens on a couple of occasions," continues the remorseful letter.
The writer says they had forgotten about their former bread-stealing days but is not proud of them.
"I would now like to put this right, so please accept the enclosed $50.00 in reparation for this offence."
The letter was posted to the Victoria University Instagram page, saying Weir House intended to put the "reparation" to good use.
The $50 will go towards Weir House's annual fundraising for the Lesley O'Kane Cup an inter-hall award focusing on community contribution.
