Women sleep better next to dogs than they do next to men apparently

We've been saying it for years, but seriously, who needs a man when they've got a dog?!

Ladies, you can officially trade your man in for a puppy and it be completely justified, because according to research, women sleep better next to dogs than they do next to men!

Dr. Christy L. Hoffman - a professor of Animal Behaviour, Ecology, and Conservation at Canisius College in Buffalo, New York - did a study of 962 women, and found that on average, women who slept with their dog or dogs reported better sleep, as opposed to women who sleep with a man.

They also found that women who share a bed with both a dog and a man found their dog to be less disruptive, while also providing a greater sense of security and comfort. Honestly, we're not even a tiny bit surprised.

Sorry for all you cat gals out there though - cats were found to be as disruptive as humans while not providing the same sense of security as a dog or a human. #teamdog all the way.

Dr Hoffman wants to make it clear that getting a dog isn't a magic fix for everyone though: "Keyword here is perception, this [study is based on] individuals self-reporting how they feel their sleep is affected' and it's 'important to note that this is based on aggregated data and an average of responses, so getting a dog won't solve everyone's sleep problems," she said.

Still, we're taking this as gospel that dogs fix everything, and it's just another thing they're better at than men. Sorry not sorry.
