New Zealand's weather will get worse throughout Easter, a meteorologist says.
Friday and Saturday are expected to be fine and sunny for most of the country, but bad weather in the south will spoil the rest of the long weekend.
"Saturday still good weather in the North Island but things are kind of going downhill in the South Island," NIWA forecaster Ben Noll told The AM Show.
"A bit of rain along the west coast, the far south as well. Southland, Otago some showers push northward as we go into the day on Sunday."
The showers will then hit the lower North Island, starting in Wellington before making their way up to New Plymouth, Manuwatu and Auckland through to Monday.
"Also some snow perhaps, in the alps on the South Island as a southerly blows in for Sunday to Monday," Noll said.
