Fyre Festival was the 'greatest party that never happened' - if you've been living under a rock, it was the brainchild festival of rapper Ja Rule and Billy McFarland, and was a complete and utter disaster to put it lightly.
Already a bit of a laughing stock, it's about to become even more of one: The Lonely Island and Seth Rogen have been confirmed to be working on a spoof movie similar to what happened with Fyre Fest.
The Lonely Island comedy trio Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone are currently working on the project, with Taccone saying:
"Oh yeah. I don’t want to divulge all the details but we’re figuring it out right now. You’ve seen the docs, right? It’s crazy. This is something that Akiva and Seth cooked up, and we’re figuring it all out right now."
Taccone made sure to mention Andy King, the event producer of Fyre who became the unexpected star of the Netflix documentary for saying he was willing to ‘suck d*ck’ to solve a water supply problem at the fest - you know the guy.
"I was like, I would hire that dude for anything… Hire that dude! That guy is a champion."
The idea has apparently been in the works for quite sometime - even before the whole Fyre Festival disaster came to a head. Rogen teased the idea back in 2017, days after Fyre was cancelled.
We genuinely can't wait for this. Anything involving Andy Samberg is guaranteed to be hilarious.
