Undateables' Daniel is engaged to his long-term girlfriend Lily

Daniel Wakeford melted hearts and had audiences in tears last year when he starred on The Undateables.

The show follows the lives of people who struggle to find love the conventional way.

Daniel has autism and has difficulties with his speech and understanding other people, but as a teenager the 30-year-old found that he was able to overcome these through the power of songwriting.

In the now famous episode of The Undateables, he went on a date with Lily, and wooed her with a rendition of his song 'The Black of Lonely'.

And now one year on from their amazing first date, Daniel has announced that he and Lily are engaged!

Apparently the episode will air next week and sees Daniel - with the help of a choir - serenade his partner with All I Want For Christmas Is You, before getting down on one knee and popping the question.

Afterwards Daniel shouts: "I did it!. We love each other. I'm feeling very excited. What's the best feeling in the world? Love."

Lily then says: "I'm so very happy Daniel proposed. We're getting married! I love him very much."
