Woman gets into note-war with her angry neighbour and it's so awkward

24-year-old musician Keli Thomson has found herself stuck in a war-of-the-notes with her neighbour, who was angry about some rubbish that had been left in their shared garden in Edinburgh.

The neighbour left the following note to kick off the exchange:

Keli had to have some emergency repairs in her bathroom when her floor began sinking in, and so the trash had to be temporarily stored in the garden as she explained in her response note:

"Dear angry Sir/Madame, Thank you for making me aware of the rubbish in my garden! I had no idea, but your passive aggressive threatening note made me notice – Horay!

Just to inform you, my bathroom floor was sinking so got done in an emergency with no skip – bummer for you, right? Landlord is currently using my rent money sunning up in Italy (jealous) whilst I deal with this bulls***, so sadly, until his return, no rubbish will be moved.

I’m so glad you wrote to be honest, because now I know that someone else is concerned about the welfare of the garden (which no one else has helped with in the six years I’ve lived here).

Next time, it may be more useful to knock on my door and discuss our methods of how to keep the garden tidy ALL year around, together! I am flat number 1. Pop around any time."

Another neighbour even chimed in to the note exchange, when the original neighbour said the whole complex was against Keli, saying "Please don't speak for all of us! 'The whole stair' is NOT against flat 1".

Keli explained what the most recent movements in the disagreement have been, saying:

"It’s my garden on privately owned property. We organised the rubbish so that we can fit a mini skip in to the end of the garden. But then obviously the threats kept coming and kept going back and forward. I still have no idea who it is but me and the other people in my building don’t believe it is someone from one of the flats in the building. They sent the last note. I’m looking at writing one tonight and getting someone to put it up in my absence! They informed me they got the fire service and council involved now and will be around to visit."

Goodness, we hope it gets resolved soon. So awkward!
