'IT: Chapter 2' is going to star this NZ actor

Even though we have to wait till 2019 for the movie, we just got our first glimpse of what to expect from IT: Chapter 2!

New Zealand actor, Jay Ryan, will play the adult version of Ben Hanscom, one of the children in the first film who find themselves terrorised by Pennywise the Dancing Clown.

In the sequel, the kids who were a part of the 'Losers Club' return to their hometown as adults, and are forced to face the killer clown once more.

The 2017 film was an international success, grossing over US$700 million worldwide.

Ryan joins a star-studded cast that includes Jessica Chastain, Bill Hader and James McAvoy, along with Bill Skarsgård in the role of Pennywise.

The 36-year-old Auckland born actor previously starred in the Kiwi TV shows Go-Girlsand Being Eve, as well as appearing on Neighbours in Australia.

In 2013, he played Mark Mitcham in the Golden Globe-and-Emmy Award-winning TV series Top of the Lake, directed by Jane Campion.

Jeremy Ray Taylor, the child actor who played Ben Hanscom in the first film, took to Twitter to ask Ryan if he was "joining the club".

Ryan responded: "Can't Wait!! #LosersClub".
